2009 Challenge Circuit Championship

It all comes down to this week, the main event. All circuit teams have worked hard to get to this point and with such a close race for the championship it is up for grabs by almost anyone. Of course this is the event that we give away the Dodge Ram 4x4 and a ton of other prizes. Teams did a lottery draw for hunt areas, checked in and had the rules meeting. The buck activity is really ramping up right now and teams are very anxious to get out into the woods.

So far the activity has been high and several good deer seen but after the first day no filmed buck hunts were submitted for score.
Photobucket
Thrill of the Hunt Productions submitted a filmed doe hunt and all other teams are still out. Only one evening hunt and one morning hunt remains before we determine our circuit champions for the year. Here are the current standings for this event as well as the circuit.

We have had a lot of action as the 2009 Campbell Outdoor Challenge Circuit drawls to an end. Congratulations to Team Reign Broadheads and Team Roscoby for submitting their filmed Buck Hunts today. Team Roscoby submitted a filmed Doe hunt this morning as well. Team Almost Heaven also submitted a filmed Doe hunt.

Just received word that Team Lancaster has tracked and recovered their Buck just in time for the 2:00PM Deadline! (1:47pm)
Sorry for the delayed update as it was one of the most active half days in our whitetail championship ever! Video submissions for 3 Bucks and 2 does came in on the last half day of the challenge. We had our circuit party last night and announced the winners for this event as well as the circuit champions!

Going into this event only about 150 points seperated 1st place thru 6th place so it was extremely close from the start. We would have never guessed just how close the circuit championship spot would actually be!!

Congratulations to Team Lancaster Archery for winning the Whitetail championship!! And also for taking 2nd place in the overall circuit, missing the Circuit championship by only 2 points!!!

Your 2009 Circuit Champions after the four events, Hog, Turkey, Antelope and Whitetail 14 days in the field per team is Team Roscoby....Congratulations.

Be sure to catch all the new circuit action Wednesdays 12noon CST on Versus all new shows starting in December!

2009 Muzzleloader Elk Challenge

Tomorrow teams will be arriving in New Mexico for the Campbell Outdoor Challenge's first ever Muzzleloader Elk Challenge!!

The teams will be hunting area 6C in North Central New Mexico. Stay tuned for up to date news!

We are here in North Central New Mexico as six teams have come together to show their skills filming Muzzleloader Elk hunts in the Outdoor Edge Knives sponsored Elk Challenge. Several teams have been here already for a few days scouting and based off of how the bulls are bugling right now we should be set for one heck of an event. We are in Abiquiu NM at the famous Abiquiu Inn who has been host to several Hollywood films over the years. We had our banquet Friday night and teams are set to start filming hunts in the morning. Elevations here range from 5000 to over 10,000 feet and teams will be hunting public ground competing with other elk hunters so this will truly put the teams to the test.

Congratulations to Caleb and Jesse from Team Sunset Saddles as they were able to successfully film the first Bull Elk Hunt of the challenge! After talking to the team, they commented that the Outdoor Edge Knives were a big help making the quartering job quicker and easier. The Montana Decoys Cow decoy was used by the team and was the turning point for them being successful. The bull was actually passing through and caught the decoy as it passed and came back for the shot. More to come.

Campbell Outdoor Challenge Videography School

Teams all the way from Michigan and Texas arrived Sunday at Campbell Illinois Whitetails and became a tight group of individuals excited about the Campbell Outdoor Challenge Video School. That night, as the teams settled in, John Campbell and Jeremy Leu held a banquet with a feast fit for a king.

Today the video school kicked off with Aaron Coston, Editor of the Campbell Outdoor Challenge, discussing different camera setups and the right settings for specific situations.

Two Sony representatives lead by Tom Cobby will take the Teams through an in depth look into Pro-sumer Video Cameras. This is a great opportunity for the teams to understand the technology of the Pro-sumer Video Cameras and how to utilize it to capture unbelievable footage

Jeremy Leu is now discussing a basic overview of capturing and editing video footage. Jeremy is using the Outdoor Challenge Video Editing Software to demonstrate the benefits of using our editing software that is specifically designed with the outdoorsman in mind!

Campbell Outdoor Challenge was lucky enough to get on of the greatest professional storyteller, producer and nature photographer, Wade Nolan to come speak to the Campbell Outdoor Challenge Video School.

In the morning he taught our Attendees on production basics, camera work, creative angles and on camera talent.

In the afternoon Wade took the students outside for hands on training

Later in the afternoon Wade discussed "The Next Frontier", streaming video and marketing. Wade brought a very unique and inspiring message to our students!

After dinner Wade gathered all the students around the campfire and told some of his amazing stories just how history was told before the invention of the written language. With the invention of the new media age stories are now being passed down in photography, audio and film. Wade explained how to produce stories worthy of being told through film.

Read more about Wade Nolan here!

Wednesday 9-30-09

The special guest lecture for today was Pat Reeve from Driven TV.

He started off the day with discussing how to become a better cameraman. He also discussed different tips and techniques used to take their video to a professional level.
After Lunch Pat Reeve talked more on filming techniques and what the industry was like.

Jeremy Leu, Co-host of the Campbell Outdoor Challenge, then moved the class outdoors to show and explain different equipment needed to make their video better.

John Campbell, Host of the Campbell Outdoor Challenge, finished up the Videoing School by giving the students a true and insightful view into the outdoor hunting video industry.

After dinner the Video School students were awarded a certificate for completing the first ever Campbell Outdoor Challenge Videography School! (some of the attendees had to leave early)

Overall the Videography school was a success and all the students walked away with valuable knowledge and great insight into the Outdoor Filming Industry. We can't wait to see what our graduates do in the future! We will definitely be conducting more schools!

Here are some feedback that we got from the school:
"This school has opened my eyes to what it takes to be successful in the outdoor industry. I will be light years ahead of the curve now that I have attended Campbell's 1st Film School!"
"I liked the way everyone was laid back and having training from Wade and Pat was tremendous."
"The most beneficial topic to me was the insight on how the "outdoor production" world revolves"
"I really liked the approachability of the teachers. Really showed genuine passion towards the students. Great hospitality and food as well."
"I think you guys have a first class operation... sooner of later.... I'll be back!!!"
"I had a great time meeting new people and learned a lot. Wish I could have taken this a year or two ago. Really valuable information!"
"Thanks for this opportunity. Everyone at Campbell's awesome!"
"Everyone was great. I really enjoyed all the speakers."
"Very glad I came, I learned a lot in a short period of time.
"The location, facilities, speakers, and concept were excellent. Schedule and timing were excellent."
"John Campbell had the nugget I was wanting and Wade Nolan was excellent. Reeve was rushed but great"
"Everything was excellent, I wouldn't change a thing"
"Wade Nolan and Pat Reeves hands on experience applied to the trade!"
"Thank you for this amazing opportunity"

CampbellOutdoorChallenge Teams are checking in for the Price Pfister Firearm Challenge!

What is the Campbell Outdoor Challenge?

The Campbell Outdoor Challenge provides a competitive sporting event format for professional hunter and cameraman teams to match their skills in filming hunts.

The Campbell Outdoor Challenge consists of a professional video circuit of fifteen cameramen teams with the ultimate champion determined by the team accumulating the most video points throughout the events that form the circuit.

In addition to the Circuit events there are qualifying events for cameramen teams to gain entry into the Circuit competition. These Challenge qualifying events are open to anyone wishing to compete regardless of age or experience level. These hunting and filming competitions are being planned in various States for different wild free-ranging game species.

Click here for 2009 scheduled events
.

Teams, create your own Pro-Staff for the circuit and split the cost among several people and rotate circuit events. Circuit points will stay with the original team name so if a new team is created after an even has already happened, the points stay with the original team.

Manufacturers, company owners, this is your chance to build your own name, advertise your products, and have your team compete at a chance to win your entry fee back, that's a chance at a free years worth of advertising!! Team members do not need to be the same throughout the circuit allowing you to build a competitive pro staff with specialized experts for different types of game.

We have many other advertising options available, from commercials, billboards, naming rights sponsorships and many other options through our show, now on Versus!
