I was born and raised on a farm/ranch in Southwestern North Dakota. I was raised by my parents to appreciate the outdoors. My father introduced me to hunting at very young age and it has been in my blood since. My interest in hunting is a family heritage honed from years of growing up hunting with my father and two older brothers. At the age of 10 I began shooting archery equipment and shortly thereafter I was hooked on the sport of bowhunting for big game. I quickly became successful in harvesting whitetail, mule deer, antelope, turkey, and elk with my archery equipment as well as with rifle. I couldn’t get enough of it, and to this day, that hasn’t changed one bit.
I decided to join the military and give back to our great country and to honor one of my father’s last wishes. On October 18, 2000; I signed my name to many papers stating my involvement and commitment to the United States Army and to the citizens of the United States of America. My National Guard Unit out of Spearfish, SD was activated for Operation Iraqi Freedom in March of 2003. In June of the same year I found myself approximately 7000 miles away from the woods and badlands that I love so much. After 18 months of being activated we were finally on our way home. We were reintroduced back into society in August of 2004. I am now employed full time by the South Dakota National Guard in Rapid City, SD. I completed Officer Candidate School (OCS) and took my commission as an officer in August of 2007. This has allowed me to become a leader with the military and instill my thoughts and beliefs. I completed Engineer Officer School at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. I strive to do well and continue to honor my oath that I gave to the United States Army.
Being a contributing writer for various magazines allows me to relive my experiences and knowledge through written expression and photos. I enjoy writing articles for Eastman’s Bowhunting Journal, Trophy Hunter Magazine, Bowhunting World, and Dakota Country Magazine. I love being a contributing writer and look forward to writing future articles. I also interact on numerous websites and talk forums on the internet to help promote the products that I use. I also video my hunts and have plans to put my footage to use when given the opportunities. I am very happy and grateful to have obtained the support from PSE Archery, Wac’em Broadheads, Mossy Oak Camo, Sitka Gear, Nikon Optics, Scott Archery, America’s Best Bowstrings, and Hips Targets. Being on staff for such companies is a dream come true!
I also attribute much of my success to my wife, Camillia Michelle Bloomgren. The one who has helped me through so much in the past and I could never thank her enough. She has put up with a lot and still stands close by my side. She has opened my eyes to so much in life and made me realize so many things that I never paid attention to before. I look forward to starting our family together and completing the dreams that we both have!

How ya been doing? Are you all taged out yet?
Not yet. Just filled my Black Hills buck tag and have a statewide any deer muzzleloader tag left for in December. Pictures to come. How are things going up that way?
