Anything to do with hunting! Action/Adventure

My father, Steven Roy Bloomgren, the strongest and bravest man I have ever known! I live on with his morals and values and devote much of my life to him and everything that he has taught me.

Bloomgren Headed out scouting for a good whitetail and mule deer tomorrow!

I was born and raised on a farm/ranch in Southwestern North Dakota. I was raised by my parents to appreciate the outdoors. My father introduced me to hunting at very young age and it has been in my blood since. My interest in hunting is a family heritage honed from years of growing up hunting with my father and two older brothers.

At the age of 10 I began shooting archery equipment and shortly thereafter I was hooked on the sport of bowhunting for big game. I quickly became successful in harvesting whitetail, mule deer, antelope, turkey, and elk with my archery equipment as well as with rifle. I couldn’t get enough of it, and to this day, that hasn’t changed one bit.

I decided to join the military and give back to our great country and to honor one of my father’s last wishes. On October 18, 2000; I signed my name to many papers stating my involvement and commitment to the United States Army and to the citizens of the United States of America.

My National Guard Unit out of Spearfish, SD was activated for Operation Iraqi Freedom in March of 2003. In June of the same year I found myself approximately 7000 miles away from the woods and badlands that I love so much. After 18 months of being activated we were finally on our way home. We were reintroduced back into society in August of 2004.

I am now employed full time by the South Dakota National Guard in Rapid City, SD. I completed Officer Candidate School (OCS) and took my commission as an officer in August of 2007. This has allowed me to become a leader with the military and instill my thoughts and beliefs. I completed Engineer Officer School at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. I strive to do well and continue to honor my oath that I gave to the United States Army.

Being a contributing writer for various magazines allows me to relive my experiences and knowledge through written expression and photos. I enjoy writing articles for Eastman’s Bowhunting Journal, Eastman's Hunting Journal, Trophy Hunter Magazine, Bowhunting World, and Dakota Country Magazine. I love being a contributing writer and look forward to writing future articles. I also interact on numerous websites and talk forums on the internet to help promote the products that I use and to provide other sportmen/women with the knowledge they are looking for. I also video my hunts and have plans to put my footage to use when given the opportunities. I take extreme pride in taking photos of the outdoors and of the animals that I have been successful with.

I am very happy and fortunate to have obtained the support from PSE Archery, Wac’em Broadheads, Mossy Oak Camo, Sitka Gear, Nikon Optics, Scott Archery, America’s Best Bowstrings, Montana Decoy and Hips Targets. Being on staff for such companies is a dream come true! I recently accepted the Regional Pro Staff Manager position with Montana Decoy. So if you think you got what it takes to be a Pro Staffer in ND or SD get ahold of me! Last but not least, I am very lucky to have gotten to know the staff from Ultimate Outdoor Adventures TV. They have helped me out immensely along the way and I really appreciate it! Thanks Team UOA! I look forward to our future ultimate outdoor adventures together!

Stay tuned for future adventures! Adventures that may put me behind camera more often! I look forward to future hunting adventures and will continue to live my dream!

After reading about you, I have sent you a friend request. You have accomplished so much to be such a young man.It kind of "tore" at my heart. I have a grandson who is facing Afhganistan in the future(very near) and I'm so fearful of him going there. He's only 18 years old.He told me not to worry, but how can I help not worry? Don't mean to take up your time, just want you to know I am proud of what you have done. God Bless You and stay safe and have a great hunting season.

Thanks you so much Linda! I am looking at my secoond deployment anyday now. This time it will be Afghanistan. It is the support from red blooded American's like you that make our job easier! Thanks again! I really appreciate it!
You are VERY welcome. Please---be careful in every thing you do. I hope you have the greatest season ever. I hate to see our young men go and I know it is for all of us, but it is so sad that the world can't get along and live side-by-side. Wtout the fighting and loss of life. GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL OUR SOLDIERS!

I would put them up to the challenge against any pack company. They are made from my material that noone on the market can use. The material is copyrighted and the packs are nearly indestructable. I beleive in them and my warranty is the best on the market. Check us out at Bruzergear.com and see the qualtiy animals harvested with our packs this year. If I didn't believe in them I would have never bought the company this year. thanks for asking. Feel free to give me a call and I can answer any more questions or I am selling out last years model in God's Country camo on EBAY. You should be able to save 50-75 percent off retail and then you can decide if you like the packs for yourself.

I didn't get a phone call.....did you make it up to SD and not call? Again?

Damn, you do not miss a thing...Yeah, I was in there hunting Saturday evening. I didn't get anything in front of me that I wanted to shoot-only saw dinks. I went over to the Jensen ranch on Sunday morning-saw a toad of a buck at 77 yards. It was very first light and I could barely make him out. He was high tailing it back to his bedding area. I'm going back up next weekend but I do not want to get in your way.

Did you see anything worth shooting?

Will

Congrats on the article in Eastmans, great to see a SD boy in there. I enjoyed the story. Good luck this season.

I had that same thing happen to me a couple years ago in Ohio. He actaully showed up twice in one morning. Wanted to go scout/hunt mulies this weekend but the rain is going to make it tough to get in and out. Gonna opt to go look for a whitetail instead.

Good Luck.

The only hunting I have done for myself since spring is a fruitless bear hunt in MN last week, it was in the high 80's all day and the bears wouldn't come out in the daylight. our baits were hit every night, but not until 1 or 2 in the morning according to the trailcams. I'm gonna be after an archery goat this week though! I'm stoked!!! Do you have a target for your archery deer tag? I haven't even begun scouting deer around here, I haven't hardly been home.

Hey Will! Just swung by to see how your season was going and to see how you have been. Take care buddy!

Hey J,

All is well here-so far. I made it back from the artic in one piece (I posted the story in my blog section) and I'm now concentrating on elk with my longbow. I have six deer hunts in different states planned (will be in SD on Oct 3rd and Oct 10th for sure. Maybe we can meet up. How are you doing? When do you hunt with the Eastmans?

Cheers
