ABOUT ME
My name is Dave Edberg, and bear hunting is my PASSION. From dusk till' dawn black bears are on my mind. If I'm not hunting em' I'm tracking them. Hiking for hours to find big bear sign, tracking the deep into the woods, and matching wits with the big forest monsters. Experiencing a bluff charge from a 500lb+ black bear in the depths of a tamarack swamp cannot be beaten by any roller coaster (I'm afraid of heights anyway)!
Hey, I hunt Bear in Wisconsin. We started two weeks ago and something odd happened. We had regular bait sites going, baiting twice a week and bears were there all the time. Then they just stopped, the bait wasen't touched. I thought we did something wrong, but after talking to some people at work, they had the same thing happen to them in different parts of the state. Any ideas or hear of this happening before.
Hey, We actually had the same thing happen to one of our baits we run here in MN. With the hot and humid spell we recently had the bottom of the bait built up a thick green mold. The bear was moving the logs but only eating about 1/4 of the bait. I scrapped out all the old bait and left it for the coons... Dug down into the dirt about two inches and re baited. The bait started getting hit again the next day. I've had about 15 emails now with the same thing happening to people in MN and WI. The heat did not help the bear season but things are turning around, lows of 38 here tonight!
When our baits weren't hit, they didnt even move the logs. None on the cameras either. Before they were cleaning out the bait pile, everything. The were even digging into the dirt. I didn't see any mold but maybe next time i will clean out the hole half way through the season. Yes, we had the heat too. There was more activity when we were getting the cool weather. Well, good luck and thanks.

Well got back from running the baits and good news... All of our baits were shredded to pieces. Pretty good considering everyone else we talked to didn't get any action due to excessive rain throughout the week. No pictures or sign of any sows with cubs either!
That sounds good, we just got back from scouting deer at the Ranch and saw quite a few nice bucks, no monsters but nice deer.Looking forward to seeing bear pictures if you get some. Thanks again!
