Fishing: I started fishing when I was about six years old, after witnessing one of my older brothers "John", affectionately called "Jack" by the family, catch a smallmouth bass out of the Oneco River in Oneco Connecticutt. I got in trouble for being near the river, but it was well worth the punishment I received, as I gained a life-long love for this great activity. A former bass tournament fisherman, I am now more inclined to fish casually for any number of species including Walleye & Perch, Brown & Rainbow Trout, Smallmouth & Largemouth Bass, White & Black Crappie. NY & VT river, lake, and small pond fishing.
Hunting: An interest in hunting started at a slightly later time in my life than fishing. It was an activity that I watched my father and older brothers take part in, and thus I felt inclined to do so myself at around age sixteen. My preferences in hunting are Canada Geese, ducks (typically Mallards), Whitetailed Deer, Black Bear, Coyote, Red & Grey Fox. NY & VT
Snowboarding: A relatively new activity for me, I took up snowboarding when I moved to Vermont in 2006 at the ripe young age of 39. It's been both fun and challenging trying to keep that thin slip of board under the feet and learning how to control the bugger. - Stratton Mtn.

Although the list of channels below are what you might find my television tuned into, it's more for atmosphere than any kind of "couch potato" syndrome. It's also a good sign that my son is around somewhere, because when he's off visiting his mom, the television may not be turned on until he returns...two to seven weeks later.
History Channel, Animal Planet, ESPN, Outdoor Channel, Versus, FoxNews, local news.

Of course God, Dad, Mom, and my son. reside at the top of this list, however, there are many others.

I enjoy both fishing and hunting and am interested in meeting fellow fishers and hunters to share in these two great activities. I'm interested in hearing from guide services about hunting excursions here in the northeast with special interest in waterfowl or black bear hunts. Also interested in locating shooting ranges and archery clubs for perhaps a little competative shooting in Vermont.
The story of Archery in our family is no short affair. The story has it that it extends back to the days of "The Black Prince" (Prince Edward of Wales) - mid 1300s, but across the isle in Ireland. Supposedly named the "Black Archers of Ireland" (we're Black Irish) but I have yet to locate information on the archer group, nor have I ever seen a family crest depicting a bow, arrows, archery, etc...a lion and shield are the chief symbols.
After taking a turn away from archery two and a half decades ago, I'm finally picking it up for another crack at it. It's not really something you forget to do, but learning the bow and fine-tuning it can be a bit tedious when you're working with an ancient bow and sights. But, at least I'm learning what I'll want in a new set-up (a Mathews Reezen 6.5). I shot a lot of archery as a kid and was even a two-year "cub-unlimited class" state champion and then two-year "youth-unlimited class" state champion in the state of Vermont. Was also a four-time silver medalist at the New England championships back then as well (I just could never beat Tom Lamar from Conn.! lol). Oh well. Using bowhunter sights takes a little getting used to, as well as using a release..but nothing I can't handle. It's been fun shooting again.
My all-time favorite hunting quarry are ducks and geese, but locating a decent hunting area has been tough lately. I also enjoy varmit hunting (day or night). Turkey season proved fruitless this year as the turkeys stayed largely on posted land. Of course whitetail hunting is on the table.
I'm still getting familiar with my new hunting area but it looks like it's going to be a good area to hunt, especially for moose. In these parts we need to win a moose permit via lottery, so hopefully I'll get a chance to hunt a moose next year (2010). I've also found sign of deer, bear, and turkey activity so it's quite promising.
Anyways, I'm a single father of one (as the pictures show) and am currently stalker free.

LOL!!! Have you had any luck lately?
Hmmm...in the woods? Well, my little buddy the red squirrel still visits me when I'm in the tree stand, and doesn't declare to the rest of the forest when I'm there. And had a black bear scoff at me the other morning as I climbed into my tree stand but refrained from tearing me limb from limb. So I guess things are going good. lol
LOL...i realize i left myself wide open on part of that question! I'm being bad; that's good that they haven't busted you in the stand.
LOL Not to mention your last comment![/quote]

Hoping you have a great hump day!
Indeed, that is the kind of day I'm having. Thanks! Now, if Camospace would only improve their bandwidth I'd be having a totally awesome day! lol

Oh...and by the way....no one is ever done with the Captain....until the bottle is empty. It's just a pleasure in progress. :)
I totally agree! I'm not going unless one happens to walk out of the patch of woods next to the house, otherwise its too damn expensive to lease land here for deer hunting.
How's things goin' at your end?
